Some institutions track demonstrated interest. Most students would attend campus visits and speak to admissions reps while on campus to show their interest. However, our current reality makes this extremely difficult. So how do you show demonstrated interest in the time of COVID-19?

Here are a few virtual activities that will help:
Attend zoom webinars. If the college or university you are interested in is holding live webinars, go! Make sure you register, so the institution can see that you attended. This will also put you on their email list where you will receive valuable information about the institution.
If the institution has open office hours, consider attending. Some institutions have taken to holding virtual office hours. I would encourage you to try attending. However, make sure if you meet with an admissions counselor, you have questions prepared. Every admissions counselor worth their salt can tell when a student is there only to show demonstrated interest. The best way to make a good impression is to be engaged and informed and to come prepared with substantive questions.
Register for a virtual tour. Some campuses are still allowing students to register for virtual tours. This is another way to get your name out there and learn more about the institution.
Attend virtual college visits at your school. There has actually been an uptick in high school 'college visits' from admissions counselors this year. Likely owing to lack of travel required. Talk to your guidance counselor and see which schools are presenting. If the school you like is presenting, make sure you go!
Email the admission office. Again, make sure you are not just emailing them to show interest, but ask them some meaningful questions. A good rule of thumb is, if you can find the information easily on the website, find another question. You can also ask them to connect you with a current student. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the student experience side of the college.
Not only are these great ways to show demonstrated interest, but they are a fantastic way for you to learn more about the school.
